Regisseur Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now) legt mit A Boy, a Wall, and a Donkey einen wunderbar entwaffnenden Kurzspielfilm über Kindheit, Krieg und den Traum vom großen Kino vor. Der vielfach ausgezeichnete Film entstand als Beitrag zum UN-Filmprojekt Stories on Human Rights, in dem 22 preisgekrönte Filmschaffende über die Artikel der Allgemeinen Erklärung der Menschenrechte sinnieren.
Three boys want to film a gangster movie at all costs – however, they live in occupied Palestine, and do not have a camera. Then the youngest of the bunch has an idea which saves the day, because there is a place where cameras are always running…
With A Boy, A Wall, and a Donkey Director Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now) has created a disarmingly wonderful short film about childhood, war, and the dream of cinema. The film, which has won several awards from festivals around the world, emerged as a contribution to the UN film project Stories on Human Rights, where 22 award-winning filmmakers reflect on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Hany Abu-Assad was born 1961in Nazareth. He went to Amsterdam to study technical engineering. After working as an aircraft engineer for several years in the Netherlands, he founded the Dutch-based company Ayloul Film Productions and began producing television programmes about immigrants. He directed his first short film Paper House in 1992 and 1998 his first feature film The Fourteenth Chick. 2006 his film Paradise Now was awarded with the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.

Hany Abu-Assad wurde 1961 in Nazareth geboren. Um Technik zu studieren, ging er nach Amsterdam. Nach einigen Berufsjahren als Flugzeugingenieur in den Niederlanden gründete er dort 1990 die Ayloul Film Productions. Er produzierte Fernsehprogramme über Immigranten, inszenierte 1992 seinen ersten Kurzfilm Paper House und mit The fourteenth chick 1998 seinen ersten Spielfilm. 2006 gewann er mit Paradise Now den Golden Globe als Bester Fremdsprachiger Film.Hany Abu-Assad was born 1961in Nazareth.
